Dick was born in Gary, Indiana in the 1930s just before the pre-war steel boom of World War II. At twelve years-old, he was blinded in both eyes as a result of a chemical accident. As the darkness in Dick's world turned from days to weeks, he lost sight in one eye, but slowly gained some vision in the other. The result was black and white and devoid of color and depth.
Through sheer determination and visual concentration, Dick was able to retrain his brain and soon everywhere he looked he saw immense color - more vibrant than he ever remembered. He knew he needed an outlet to translate his new found vision and over many years of experimenting with technique, developed a style of melting paints called - Color Fusion.
Often mixing unlikely color choices using a broad spectrum of paints, Dick has an ability to create an organic marbling of colors that arrive cosmically onto the surface and translate shape, color and dimension to contemporary masterpieces.
His work is also on exhibit at the New Art Center - New York, NY / LAFHD - Hollywood, CA / Bayside - Newport Beach, CA / Leatherby Libraries - Chapman University, CA / Galleria Marconi - Santa Ana, CA
